I spent four weeks as a creative resident in Tokyo, Japan. Daily activities included sketching, in situ drawing, and working with both analog and digital media. The artwork was inspired by immediate and urban surroundings as well as by personal encounters.
At the end of my stay a four day show at the in-house gallery displaying and selling a selection of works, successfully concluded my time as a creative resident.
After my return home, I carried on creating additional imagery based on the artwork shown in the gallery and various sketchbook entries. For a final outcome I combined these elements in a layout producing a book which I titled Liminality – a journey. Sketches and illustrations from a residency in Tokyo, Japan. Additionally, I produced a set of four A5 Risoprints accompanying the book and adding perceived value. The cards’ motifs are taken from the books imagery.
